Announcement.

We received the following death notice from a reader:

Hello,

I don't know who you are and don't know what to call you so I'll just say
hello. I was wondering if you could put a small item on your blog about the
death of George Methvin. As you may or may not know I worked in Communications
for many years. George was one of the Communications Supervisors. He retired
after 33 years of service. 33 years and never called off sick one day. He was
just a decent, hard working guy that really tried to get along with everyone. I
know alot of your readers that have been around a while will recognize his name.
It's my understanding he suffered a heart attack at his sons home today
(Saturday). I know your blog is not about death notices but George was well
liked and I'm sure alot of folks would like to know about his passing. I was
told there will be a graveside funeral in Iuka, MS on Monday the 29th.

Tell us what you think.

We've all heard you say, "that -- is a lazy ass officer". Tell us who you think is lazy and some of the things they do to get "special". This isn't a contest. It's only to highlight the worst of the worst and maybe give them that soft kick in the ass.

Sorry for the delay.

If you haven't heard, we've been kind of tied up with the Enforcer2.0 and the bullshit antics of GODwin and Company. We would like to congratulate Felicia Durden on being nominated for the Dispatcher of the month. We know that all of you guys do a great job and can be our lifeline in a time of need. Lord knows I've been in situations and had to call for help.

Let us take the next seven days and give us your nominations for Dispatcher of the Month. Remember, when nominating, please give a small write up as to what he or she did to deserve the award. Thanks.

Vote now!

The voting has opened for the Dispatcher of the Month. We apologize if any nominees were left off and there will always be August. After you vote, slip on over to the Enforcer 2.0 and vote for your Asshole of the Month.

Update on Dispatcher of the month.

With your nominations, please provide a brief description of why you think they should win. The will help us in creating the write up for the award. Also, we are looking at a T-Shirt idea for the winner!

Dispatcher of the month.

We are taking nominations for Dispatcher of the month. This is meant to be a positive award, unlike the Enforcer's Asshole of the Month. Please give us your nominations by 7-21-08 so we will have a chance to vote.

Moderating comments.

All, we have experienced some dumb ass on the Enforcer site cut and pasting the same comments over and over again. The same person was upset about an article we did and it's probably a matter of time before they find this site (even though a link is posted on the Enforcer). We will be moderating comments for a bit until the flamer gets tired of reading our sites. We apologize for the inconvenience, but it will make you reading easier. Thanks.

New Rss service added.

We've added a new RSS feed service to the blog. This means that you will never miss a topic or a response to your comment. Look for the icon in the top right of our blog, click, follow instructions and enjoy this free service.

What gets on your nerves?

Now, we know this question might cause some flame ups. Hopefully, both sides of the mic can post some responses that may better our communications between the dispatchers and officers. Certain issues tend to grate on everyones nerves, but we've never had a forum to discuss problems.

Happy 4th of July.

Happy 4th of July everybody. We know you guys will be overwhelmed by the "shots fired" and "fireworks" calls today. Try to take a moment, relax and push the calls out as they come. Most of us will suck it up today and shag the calls because nobody wants to be held over on the 4th.

New Memphis Police Department Communications blog is here!

After numerous e-mails on the http://www.mpdenforcer20.blogspot.com site, we decided to create and host a new blog for all to comment about operations in the dispatchers office, complaints about dispatchers, kudos on dispatchers and anything else related.

In the good ol days, we used to drop by the dispatch office on a regular basis. They got to know who the officers are and we got to know the face behind the voice.

This blog will attempt to improve relations between officers and dispatchers, while being informative. This blog will also be run similar to the MPDEnforcer 2.0 site. Dispatchers will have a chance to reveal some of their issues and vote on similar topics. Welcome to all.
