Dispatcher of the month.

We are taking nominations for Dispatcher of the month. This is meant to be a positive award, unlike the Enforcer's Asshole of the Month. Please give us your nominations by 7-21-08 so we will have a chance to vote.

I have not been a dispatcher for very long, however i would like to nominate someone. This person was not my trainer, and on those days when i just wanted to quit she always said something to me to bring a smile without trying to and without knowing what frame of mind i was in.I don't think she knows she is a special person but she is, the smallest kindness goes a long way. So i nominate Sonia Golden. I know you don't know me but you talk to me anyway, there are others, they are polite so are you its just you maek conversation with smile with everyone.

Someone told me about this site, and the good news is i found it on a good subject,I am no longer a dispatcher i did not even finish training...someone elses life is not what i want to be stresssed about everyday and for those take on that responsibility i give you a standing ovation, you guys do a great job. The person that understood and the person i think has so much personality and open heart is Ms Susan Clark she is not a dispatcher but a supervisor and a great instructor. I also had the best trainer on the floor i think, others may think they had the best trainer and thati understand. I can try with the spelling of her last name and sorry if i mess it up. I also nominate Trina Towle. Trina has more patience and understanding than anyone knows yes she was harsh sometimes but i nevr took it personally and she gave me her all even allowing me to repeat ask her the same question and most important allowed me debate the answer. When i left i never got the chance to say thank you to her so whoever reads this let her know Trina i thank you for being the person you are and i wish all new hires receive a chance to gain knowledge of their job by being teamed with you,it will alllow them relief from the stress i know they will feel, not completely but enough to sleep at night. Trina never knew the changes i went through to work it out with myself to stay and in the end i feel bad she gave me all her time and i still did not stay. So i nominate Ms Susan Clark and Trina Towle... Women with class
personality, patience, time, and they listen without prejudgement.

Wow.. I am so sorry that someone voted for a different lazy ass instead of voting for your lazy ass.

Instead of whining about things never changing, get off your dead ass and try making a change yourself. Stop sitting around waiting for someone else to make things better for you. If you can't be part of a solution, then shut the hell up.

Having said that, there is one person that comes to work day after day with a smile on her face. She puts up with the same garbage that the rest of us do, but she never seems to let if affect her mood or treatment of others. Every single day, without even trying, she manages to make my work experience a little more pleasant. This person is Dewanda Montague and she deserves to be Dispatcher of the Month.

To 12:36 I agree with you, the majority of the dispatchers do vote for themselves and half don't deserve it. Ignore the next person's comment, obviously they have several issues. We all know this is the way it is. I saw people who take 10 calls a day, never let others up for a rr break, but then sit around and bitch about the lazy people.

And to the person who made the next comment, you're a BITCH!! But I do agree with you Dewanda has the best personality and she is there when you need something. Maybe you should take some lessons, then take your meds and shut the hell up.

michell griffin is my dispatcher of the month, and sexy of the month too..

I though this post was suppose to be positive, don't you think your comment is for the what gets on my nerve blog? We all see things different than others. We can agree to disagree without being called names or some negative backlash, and no i am not the person that wrote the comment you are upset about, but i am someone that would like to check in without reading anger.

Molly Tracy....one of the best dispatchers on the air. I also liked working with Eddie Heaston or Roosevelt Coleman on the air. They all can handle a chase with great demeanor. And I think that we can all agree that Roosevelt will stand up and try to cover for his people...even if it cost him. Damn good guy.

Here's a blog topic for you Dirk. "WHY DO OFFICERS HATE DISPATCHERS?" I used to hear officers say because we made more money than them. That is not true. So since we have this anonymous way of expressing ourselves now... please ask. I would love to find out the real reason.

this is turning into another negative place to destroy the characters of some really good people. As far as nominating a dispatcher of the month, I agree this is bogus because what happens every April is it turns inot a popularity contest. To me, being dispatcher of the month should be based on a work related incident where one goes above & beyond the normal expectations and NOT based on a person's smile,or because they speak to you nor dispatchers going person to person soliciting votes or purchasing microwaves that barely work to gain votes! This site has been successful in creating a lot of tension in our area. If you cant agree to say or suggest positive things to improve our work relationships then why bother? If anyone can come to work and smile at someone else, thats a plus, if anyone can get alone with the officers and other dispatchers all in the same day that's another plus if you don't see your name and you have comments to make because someone thinks well of the those that are named thats a plus for them. When a dispatcher puts on his/her headphones and talks to an upset caller calming them down long enough to get a location, she/he went above and beyond, when a dispatcher puts on his/her headphones and an officer gives chase be it on foot or car,and she/he remains calm and gets all info to keep up with that officers and keep the other officers in the game at the same time!!!! she/he went above and beyond...So yea Sonia Golden, Trina Towles,M Funderburg,Tifany Green Susan Clark(SPRD)Michelle Griffin, Molly Tracy, when these people sit down to do their jobs someones feels along with the job they still manage to maybe smile, say hello, give of themselves to others and still do the best job they can do under pressure. If you don't see your name here don't take it out on these people. Look in the mirror and figure out why no one though of you. Maybe you are lazy, negative, mean spirited, unfriendly. You certainly are unhappy if you were not, you would not have a comment to make about the choice of others. Allow people to call out those they feel deserve it. Without your unproductive comments. We all do the same jobs, just some do it a little bit better and without acting as if it is a burden.I think thats what is met by the people doing the nominating.

Maybe you should read the comment again. The previous poster called the person lazy and was mad that her lazy ass had never been nominated. Read the comment again, and maybe you might need to grow up a little. I was agree with her about the nominations, but the comment that came after hers was extremely negative and there was no point in it and I called them on it. If you don't like that, sorry. But we are adults not children.

Whoooooa slow down... when I said "interesting" it was because they are all good. Exhale Damn!!! Looks like you are the one picking a fight..

SO WHAT'S YOUR POINT!!!!!

To all of you making comments and not nominations, move it to the get on my nerve blog. and allow those of us that want to nominate without the negative vibes do just that. We don't care what you think of the people we nominate, We do know we see something in these people and thank them for it... So i nominate Kelia Holiday, girl you keep it 100% all the time. And you do a damn good job, Big ups to you.

Again you need to go read the comments again. The person that called the person lazy was the one who is trying to start a fight. read the comments carefully before you start your comments.

AND I TRIED TO CHANGE THE PROSCESS BUT NOBODY WILL DO IT. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE HATEFUL COMMENT. THIS PERSON GETS ON HERE AND TEARS EVERYBODY ELSE APART BECAUSE MAYBE THEY FEEL BAD ABOUTH THEMSELVES.

AND I WILL COMMENT ABOUT WHAT I WANT ON HERE. IF YOU HAVE SO MUCH OF A PROPBLEM WITH WHAT OTHERS SAY, THEN SPEAK TO THEM AND LEAVE ME ALONE. KUO982

Half the people on the wall dont deserve to be there, the voting process is not right.

Voting should be about is he/she there to call the air unit or the fire dept when you have a chase going. Or are they talking to their boyfriend on there cell phone. When that person comes to work are they already in a bad mood and start slamming thier hand down on the counter, when you ask the a question do they snap at you, how often do you see that person walking around while calls are in que. There are so many more faults, I cant' think of, oh do they spread false rumors behind your back. Well have of those people are on the wall. and if you believe that they are there because they deserve it youre real guillable. And again there is no way to change it.

I would like to trully agree that things will get better but the attitued we have will never allow that. And I believe that were are voting dispatcher of the month, i think i should be allowed to reinterate these things.

my votes are for tammy burns, paula hagood, k crutcher. if you want my reasons just let me know

Holiday, Burns, Hagood, and Crutcher...

I can't wait to see who wins. And I am saying this in a positive way. Those that I have a working relationship with on this list do work hard and are very deserving. So Dirk... besides recognition what's the prize? A FREE "YOU DON'T KNOW DIRK" T SHIRT SENT TO THE WINNER!!! Tell me where to send my money! I got $5 on it!!!

6441 says:

Roosevelt Coleman...now there was a dispatcher! Handle a car chase? How about two car chases at once? How about once upon a time (when car chases actually happened) when I chased a car into another precinct where I knew NONE of the streets/landmarks. I was completely lost and damned if if Rosey didn't start calling my cross streets for me! Even though I'm no longer an MPD officer (thanks go to God), I have not seen a dispatcher of this caliber since he retired.

One dispatcher comes close, however: Felicia Durden. Felicia was a dispatcher for several years before I left and while there are several GREAT dispatchers on the floor, Felicia most definitely leads the pack. Professional, personable, and caring are just a few words that I use to describe her. I've known her longer than all of you (30+ years) and she's always been the same upbeat and positive person she remains today.
There are other dispatchers who go well beyond their call of duty: Molly Tracy, Susan Clark, Dewanda Montague, Scott what's his name, and several others I feel sure I've unintentionally omitted. Oh, wait...I forgot about Jameeta Young. She's been a wonderful PRD for many years now! NOT! I've got one word for Jameeta: Mental Case. Wait, that was two words!

Anyway...Props go to Felicia and all the others who do their PRD job each and every day and don't complain about all the crap they have to endure. Swap positions: let the police officers be dispatchers for a day. I couldn't do it. My hat is off to all of you who do your job and do it well!

Holy Crap! I forgot about Hagood. I'm sorry Paula. I miss you, too.

After finding these sites via The Commercial Appeal - my co-workers topic of conversation this morning began, "Can you imagine having to work day in and day out in that type of atmosphere?"

The general concensus was that your whole department could benefit from group therapy!!! Laugh, but know that the company I work for has brought in counselors to work with a department that was unable to resolve their differences!

You know - many successful, large corporations have policies that address practices which lead to negative working environment(s). When you work in a group - it's important to understand how individual behaviors create and add to an already negative environment.

Behaviors I have had to address over the years continue to amaze me! Many supervisors and managers hope that if they ignore behaviors they will go away. Only to learn that they don't. They only fester and continue to grow until they reach a boling point.

I work in a female dominated enviornment and understand such challenges.

Be the change you want to see.

This blog - what value does it bring to your department? It might feel good to vent for the moment but how do you feel when you go to work each day? You spend more hours in the day with each other than you do your own families.

Do yourselves a favor and let the site die. Build your department up, don't tear it down.

Pagan Place Psychic Readings Services said...

The only way to build up the department is to tear it down and start all over.
